What is a refurbished iPad?
Quite simply, a refurbished iPad is one that has been pre-owned, whether it be for a day, week, month or a year but has now been professionally refurbished to give a new lease of life.

For example, a customer may purchase an iPad and decide after a week of light use, that an iPad is not quite for them so return to the seller under their 14 day money back guarantee. The original seller of the iPad is then unable to sell the returned iPad as new, so ends up selling to us, Refurb iPhones UK.

Another example would be a customer wants to upgrade her old iPad 2 for a newer iPad Pro and knows there are recycling companies who purchase old Apple equipment. The customer then sells to a recycling company and puts the money from the sale towards a new iPad Pro. Refurb iPhones UK then purchase large volumes of iPads from the recycling company to be lovingly refurbished in-house.

How do we refurbish iPads?
Here at Refurb iPhones UK, we source used iPads, either from public or recycling companies, to be refurbished in-house at our fully equipped workshops by highly trained technicians.

We receive iPads and begin to test each iPad function using our meticulous testing procedure. We use a proven 20 point checking system which tests each function of an iPad to ensure all functions work 100%. We even send you a signed copy of the checklist, with date unit was tested and by what technician.

If we find a particular component is not functioning correctly or is faulty, we replace with a brand new part. For example, we find the front camera on an iPad mini is not working, so we replace and test again.

We also test battery life on each iPad to ensure the usage time is near that of a factory new iPad. If we find the battery to be under performing, we replace with a brand new battery.

Just because it’s used, doesn't mean it should look like it is!
After we are satisfied all components are working correctly on the iPad, we then proceed to clean every part of the iPad with our anti-bacterial solution.

When we clean iPads, we really clean them! Not one part of the iPad is left untouched. We use detail brushes to get to the tightest of gaps like speaker meshes, dock connectors, headphone ports, microphone holes, every part is cleaned!

Grading.
After we have cleaned each iPad, we then move on to grading. We check the cosmetics carefully and decide which grade category our iPads should sit in. We like to over-grade our refurbished iPads, so that the end user is not disappointed with the grade iPad they have chosen.

Some iPads come to us looking like new. Some arrive with minor usage marks. Some have more noticeable defects like smashed screens or dents in the iPad casing. To help reduce landfill, we try not to replace external casings and glass digitisers unless absolutely necessary. Which is why we grade our refurbished iPads.

Grade A+
If an iPad has no marks, scratches, dents, scuffs or blemishes and looks like new we would class this as Grade A+.

Grade A
If an iPad has little, very faint to light scratches, blemishes or minor marks on the casing or glass digitiser, we class this as Grade A.

Grade B
If an iPad has more noticeable marks, blemishes, scratches or scuffs on the casing or front glass but is not too many or contains deep scratches, this is a Grade B.

Grade C
If an iPad has significant amount of scratches, marks, scuffs to the case or screen and may contain 1 or 2 minor dents, this is our Grade C.

What grade should you choose?
This all depends on your needs. If you want an iPad that is as good as new, albeit with some very minor, hardly noticeable blemish, we’d recommend a Grade A.

If you need an iPad for work, and you want the kids to use it too, a Grade B would suffice.

A Grade C iPad is good for those that will be using a refurbished iPad in an environment that will undoubtable cause a little stress to the iPad cosmetics so looks are not essential to your needs.

Why buy a refurbished iPad?
Apart from the obvious significant savings, you will also be helping to reduce environmental waste, supporting the “green” cause! When you buy a refurbished iPad, you help save the manufacturing of an additional iPad thus helping the reduction of carbon emissions and conserving natural resources.
